Amy Chini
Thanks for visiting! I’m Amy, and this is my kid-lit author site.
I write picture books in many different styles, from heartfelt, to funny, to SEL, and this is the year I try some horror!
You can see some current works-in-progress here.
A little background info:
I worked for many years as a theatre artisan- mostly making props and occasionally designing sets. I also co-authored a full-length commissioned play that was produced twice back in the 2000s.
If you want to see some fun prop projects, click here!
I have a degree in Environmental Studies from Naropa University in Boulder, CO where I also earned a permaculture design certificate. Stay tuned for some permaculture-adjacent picture books currently percolating!
I like reading all kinds of books and playing music with my family. Once in a while I even lay down a few tracks 🎤.

Thanks for asking. It’s like KEY-knee. Say it the same way you say zucCHINI. Or biKINI.

I live in San Diego, CA with my partner, our 2 kids, our rescue pup Chet and our cat Pete who falls off of things like it’s his job.

Oooh, it’s so hard. Some favs: Kid Sheriff and the Terrible Toads by Bob Shea and Lane Smith, The Promise by Nicola Davies, The Frank Show by David Mackintosh, Jitter Bug Jam by Barbara Jean Hicks and Alexis Deacon, The Mighty Lalouche by Matthew Olshan and Sophie Blackall, and Extra Yarn by Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen.
My goal, though, is to diversify my shelf, and get my hands on more picture books written by #12x12Challenge authors!
I have a major soft spot for Mercer Mayers’ Little Critter books.

I am currently seeking representation.
